Charlotte, NC / Washington D.C. -- Avantgarde Translations, Inc. has completed all phases of acceptance and has received certification in the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program. 8(a) Certification helps qualified companies, which are deemed socially or economically disadvantaged, gain access to federal assistance, opportunities and contracts. The certification required extensive business fiscal and operational documentation, as well as the submittal of a business plan for approval by the Small Business Administration over a period of three months.
The Small Business Administration 8(a) Business Development Program was named for Section 8(a) of the Small Business Act, which dictated a program be created to help small and disadvantaged businesses compete in the marketplace including access to federal and private procurement markets. The focus of the program is to provide business development support including mentoring, procurement assistance, business counseling, training, financial assistance, surety bonding and other management or technical assistance.
